The Advantages of Outsourcing in the Philippines
Filed under: marketing, General Discussions, Information — Bruce @ 7:57 am

As we have all heard for years, a term, Outsourcing, but what is it?

A lot of the time you call a customer support phone number, call for service support or even receive a call to schedule a delivery of that new refrigerator you are talking to someone in China, India or even the Philippines.

Most of these are called “Call Centers”. Companies in America and other countries hire a company in another country where the cost of labor and business is much less than their home country. The Call Center hires local people, train them to take care of their clients customers. Some even give language and accent training to be better understood while on the phone.

I have been upset in the past with call centers in the past that was located in India. The people are hard to understand and it is like they are reading from a question and answer sheet in front of them. If you ask a question that is not on the list, they ask the previous question again.

In the Philippines all students learn English in school. Yes sometimes there are slight pronunciation errors but most of all they speak in clear and understood English. I have also found them to be friendly and will chat a little with you if you start that conversation
But there is a whole other world of outsourcing.

There are technical companies in the Philippines that can be utilized. Graphics artists that do web design, advertising art, photography and many others to mention.

There are companies with computer programmers too.

One area I have knowledge is Architecture. I recently have become involved with a firm that is staffed with Civil Engineers, Architects, MEP Engineers (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing). I know they do the civil and structural engineering, land development and architecture for firms in America and the Middle East.

Practically all their personnel are graduates of the local universities and are knowledgeable in the Building Codes, building technologies and engineering needed to pass local and state building departments.

They use the most current software including AutoCAD 2008 and other needed and related programs. All work is reviewed and monitored for accuracy. I was amazed in their personnel knowledge of the software and building technology.

So, what can a company expect using a firm in the Philippines? Well from what I see is quality and experience for a fraction of the cost of doing it in-house or hiring a drafting service in their respective country.

And with the internet files and information can be send back and forth in minutes so there is no problems with delays of waiting for paper or disks to me mailed or shipped around the world

Pay to Earn
Filed under: Relationships — Bruce @ 10:54 pm

As I have been searching the internet for ways to earn moeny on the internet and paid for Blogging I have seen a lot of sites that advertize that you can make hundreds of dollars a day by filling forms. There are lots of testamonials from people who are getting rich.

I wonder if they are for real and do not want to spend money that is just a scheme for the company to make money, not you.

There are other paid to review on your blog, but so far not much has come up. I think you need a more active blog with hundreds or thousand of hits  week for the advertisers to be interested in signing you on.

Well my search continues.

I am also setting up my profile on some sites that offer outsourcing jobs. They want a lot if information about you and your experiences but I would expect that if a company will hire you to do work from them without meeting you first. I know I would.

One of these sites is www.elance.com

Well my search continues.

Working in the Philippines
Filed under: marketing, Information — Bruce @ 9:31 pm

There are difficulties finding employment in the Philippines. One of the big problems to the foreigner mind is the pay scale.  The daily wage varies to the region you are employed. It is around 200 pesos a day ( approx $5)

There is another problem, to work in the Philippines except as a consultant, you need to have a tax ID# and can only get that if you have residency status.

I was an Architectural Project Manager and had worked for Architects and builders for many years. I am also very qualified in the use of AutoCAD both as a draftsman and setting up the system for easy use for office standards. I have met a number of people here and a lot will tell you “Oh, I know of an architect” or “Yes I want to contact you too discuss possibilities” and then you never hear from them again. If you contact them they tell you they have been too busy.

Because of these setbacks I al investigating finding ways to make money online. I am not an entrepreneur and do not have the type of business savy to start a business. I am a worker. I hope to find some drafting work locally or outsourcing but have not found any as of yet.

I have been looking for ways to make money on my blogs, this one and American in Davao and will report here if I find any and how to join them too if your interested.

If you know of any, please do not hessitate to contact me.

Filed under: marketing, General Discussions, Information — Bruce @ 11:53 pm

As a lot of you have noticed, especially if you read my other Blog American In Davao that I am now living in the Philippines.

We first had trouble getting Elena a fiancee Visa and then I lost my job. With not many prospects for a job in the USA I moved here to Davao.

I am now going to use this blog about life here from a different aspect. I am going to talk about my search to use the internet to make some money and will share my experiences with you.

I am also going to discuss my hobbies. One is photography. Years ago I had a 35mm camra with a few lenses. With the advent of the digital camras I had used different Point and Shoot camras but just before my trip here I purchased a Nikon D80 camra with alot of the gadgets.

I will try to learn to use the camra features and will eiter post photos here or have a link to them. Maybe if there are readers into amature photography, we can learn together.

Please continue to support my blogs and let me know what you think or any other comments.

Making Money with your Blog
Filed under: marketing — Bruce @ 11:31 pm

A lot of us here on the internet would like to make some extra cash. We have our computer, connection to the internet and spend a lot of our time surfing, looking for places of interest and even spending money.

Now living in the Philippines I have been looking for opportunities to earn some money. As you might know there is a lot of buzz about making money on the internet.

I have searched the internet for companies that pay you to post a blog about their products and/or services. There are many blog marketing sites on the net but most require you to buy something, a website or pay a fee. Then I found http://www.snapbomb.com/. With snapbomb all you need is a blog or blogs and a paypal account. They can be your own domain or a free blog on a place like blogspot.

Once you have your account set up they list for you opportunities for you to write about and what it pays. The list is varied and all you need to do is pick the offers you have a knowledge or interest about and write an article for your blog.

After you submit your blog for review it will be rated and they send you feedback. If it accepted, you get paid for your blog post.

I am new to this just as I am new to the Philippines but I hope with Snapbomb I will be able to write reviews and earn as I go.

I will keep you all informed on how it is going and how rich I have become.
